Description:
This is a shrinkable plastic tube that can be used to insulate wires, providing abrasion resistance and environmental protection for stranded and solid wire conductors, connections, joints, and terminals in electrical work.
It is a solid alternative to taping, molding or potting. When heated, it conforms to the size and shape of the substrate beneath, enabling quick and easy installation. Its high expansion ratio makes it possible to repair the most damaged cable jackets without removing connectors. It can also be used to repair the insulation on wires or to bundle them together, to protect wires or small parts from minor abrasion, and to create cable entry seals, offering environmental sealing protection. Heat-shrink tubing is ordinarily made of polyolefin.
When heat is applied to heat shrink tubing, the adhesive material inside the tube is activated. The adhesive material then secures it to the wire or cable. The process allows the wire or cable and heat shrink tubing to become one unified product.
