The XYC-WB-DC is a 5.8GHz microwave radar motion sensor module that uses Doppler radar technology to detect human movement and moving objects with high sensitivity. Unlike passive infrared sensors, this active radar module transmits high-frequency electromagnetic waves and analyzes the echoes, allowing it to detect motion through doors, glass panels, and thin walls—although metal surfaces will block the signal. It provides a full 360° spherical detection angle without dead zones and a detection range of approximately 6 to 9 meters, depending on the configuration and source.
The module operates from a wide 3.3V to 20V DC supply and draws less than 3 mA in standby, making it suitable for battery-powered and low-energy installations. Its output is a TTL-level digital signal that goes high (3.3V) when motion is detected and low (0V) otherwise, allowing direct connection to Arduino, ESP32, and other microcontroller GPIO pins. An onboard 3-pin connector (labeled +VIN, GND, and OUTPUT) provides straightforward wiring, and the detection delay can be adjusted from roughly 1 second to over two minutes by fitting a resistor (R6, 1 kΩ to 250 kΩ); with no resistor fitted, the default delay is approximately 30 seconds. Sensitivity can also be tuned via the R9_1 resistor (10 kΩ to 100 kΩ). With compact dimensions of 32 × 23 mm and an operating temperature range of -20°C to +80°C, this microwave radar sensor is a practical choice for security systems, smart lighting, automatic doors, industrial automation, and presence-detection projects where a wider detection angle and through-obstacle sensing are required.
