XY-V17B UART MP3 Voice Module – DY1900A, microSD/TF, 24-bit DAC

The XY-V17B is a compact intelligent voice and audio playback module built around the DY1900A decoding chip, designed to add MP3 and WAV audio output to microcontroller projects without requiring a full audio subsystem. The module reads audio files from a microSD or TF card (up to 32GB, FAT16/FAT32) and offers three distinct control methods: UART serial commands, a single-wire One-Line bus, and direct IO triggering. In UART mode, the module can select up to 65,535 tracks, adjust volume across 31 levels, change equalizer presets, set repeat modes, and report playback status back to the host controller. The IO trigger mode supports eight independent inputs for direct playback of eight files, or combination triggering of up to 255 files, making the module usable even without a microcontroller.

Audio output is provided through dedicated DACL and DACR pins, delivering a 24-bit stereo analog signal with a stated dynamic range of 90dB and a signal-to-noise ratio of 85dB. A 3.5mm headphone jack is also available on some board versions. Because the DAC outputs are line-level signals, passive speakers require an external amplifier; the module does not include an onboard power amplifier. A BUSY output pin indicates playback status (high during playback), allowing the host to synchronize other actions with the audio. The XY-V17B voice module operates from a 3.3V to 5V DC supply (5V recommended) with 3.3V TTL logic levels on the control interfaces. Measuring approximately 26 × 23 × 5 mm and weighing about 3g, the XY-V17B is suitable for embedded voice prompts, interactive exhibits, alarm announcements, smart home devices, and educational robotics. It is a playback-only device and does not include a microphone, recording capability, or USB sound card function.
