The YS-IRTM is a serial infrared transmitter and receiver module designed for bidirectional infrared communication, encoding, and decoding in embedded control and smart automation systems. The module operates at a 38kHz carrier frequency and communicates with a host microcontroller through a UART TTL serial interface, using a default baud rate of 9600bps with an 8N1 data format. This serial architecture allows the module to handle infrared encoding and decoding internally, reducing the processing burden on the host controller compared with raw IR LED and receiver circuits.
The module supports the NEC infrared protocol, a widely adopted standard for consumer remote controls that uses pulse-distance modulation with a 38kHz carrier and either 8-bit or extended 16-bit address and command structures. It is compatible with common NEC encoding chips including uPD6121, uPD6122, TC9012, PT2221, PT2222, SC6121, SC6122, and SC9012, enabling it to control a broad range of televisions, fans, and other infrared-controlled electrical equipment.
The YS-IRTM operates from a 4.5V to 5.2V DC supply with a maximum current draw of 50mA, and its infrared transmission range is rated at 6 to 10 meters in open air, with vendor testing confirming stable control at approximately 8 meters. The module measures 27mm × 17mm and is supplied as a compact bare board suitable for integration into IoT devices, industrial smart equipment, MP3 controllers, electronic building-block kits, and infrared wireless switch designs.
