The NodeMCU-32S is an open-source IoT development board built around the ESP-WROOM-32 module, featuring the ESP32 dual-core microcontroller from Espressif. This board combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity in a single compact platform, making it a versatile choice for embedded networking, smart home automation, and industrial IoT applications. The ESP32 chip incorporates a Tensilica Xtensa LX6 microprocessor with a clock frequency adjustable from 80MHz to 240MHz, and it supports real-time operating systems (RTOS) for demanding multitasking workloads.
This NodeMCU-32S ESP32 development board provides both traditional Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), alongside IEEE 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi operating in the 2.4GHz to 2.5GHz frequency range. The module supports data transmission rates of up to 150Mbps and an antenna output power of 20dBm, enabling reliable wireless communication over extended distances. With 4MB of built-in SPI flash, 520KB of SRAM, and 38 accessible GPIO pins, the NodeMCU-32S offers ample resources for sensor interfacing, display control, and complex IoT firmware development.
The board maintains the classic NodeMCU 1.0 form factor with 2x19-pin extension headers, breaking out all available I/O pins for easy breadboard prototyping. It includes an onboard CP2102 USB-to-UART converter for programming and serial debugging, along with two onboard buttons for reset and user-defined functions. The board operates on a 5V power supply with 3.3V logic levels, and its compact dimensions of approximately 48.26mm × 25.4mm make it suitable for space-constrained projects.
