The MC-52 is a wired magnetic door and window sensor built around a normally closed (NC) reed switch, designed to detect the open or closed state of doors, windows, cabinets, and roller shutters in security and access-control systems. The sensor consists of two mating parts: a switch unit and a permanent magnet. When the door or window is closed, the magnet sits within the sensor's operating gap and holds the reed contact closed, completing the circuit. When the door opens and the magnet moves beyond the rated gap, the reed contact releases and the circuit opens, signaling an alarm or status change to the connected controller.
This surface-mount magnetic contact is housed in a silver-gray zinc alloy shell, offering good resistance to moisture and mechanical wear in garages, warehouses, shops, and industrial enclosures. The switch is rated for a maximum voltage of 100V, a maximum current of 0.5A, and a maximum power of 10W, making it compatible with most low-voltage alarm panels and access-control inputs. The two-wire connection simplifies wiring: the sensor can be looped directly into an alarm zone or a microcontroller input with a pull-up resistor.
The MC-52 door window sensor is commonly used on roller shutter doors, overhead garage doors, sliding gates, fire doors, metal cabinets, and windows. Its compact body and screw-terminal or wire-lead connection allow fast installation on both new and existing openings. Whether used in a commercial burglar alarm system or a DIY smart-home door-status monitor, the MC-52 provides a simple, passive, and reliable binary indication of whether an opening is secure.
