The HW-398 / CTP9 module is a DC-to-DC boost converter (9–20V) that allows you to extract higher voltages from fast chargers and power banks. With this board, you can turn a USB Type-C fast charger or power bank into a stable DC power source, enabling devices like routers, fiber modems, and other DC-powered equipment to remain powered continuously. Important usage notes for HW-398 / CTP9:

  • If a higher voltage (e.g., 15V or 20V) is selected but the charger or power bank cannot support it, the module will automatically lock to the highest voltage the charger can provide. For example, if the charger maxes at 9V, the output will be 9V.
  • The maximum current supported is 5A, but the actual output depends entirely on the charger capacity and the load connected.
  • The power source must support PD or QC standards; standard 5V chargers cannot supply higher voltages.
  • Some high-power chargers with proprietary or non-standard fast charge protocols may not be fully compatible (e.g., Xiaomi fast charge might not be recognized).
  • When soldering the voltage selection pads, use minimal heat—just enough to melt the solder. Excessive heat may damage the board, lift pads, or make the shorting difficult.
