The most critical task in humidity measurement is a stable detection of a correct humidity level within an acceptable response time. Coverage of the full measurement range from 0 % RH to 100 % RH is mandatory.
The HS1101 humidity sensor is a cost-effective solution for measuring relative humidity within ±5% accuracy. This module is based on a unique capacitive cell; therefore, by use of simple RC circuit wiring, it becomes totally easy to interface with any Parallax microcontroller, including the BASIC Stamp® and Propeller chip. These relative humidity sensors are designed for high volume, cost-sensitive applications such as office automation, automotive cabin air control, home appliances, and industrial process control systems. They are also useful in all applications where humidity compensation is needed.
The linear approximation was used to obtain relative humidity readings for this application. Therefore, the results can have up to a ±5% RH error. In addition, when this sensor is operating in temperatures 25° higher or lower than room temperature, the RH error can increase by ±2%. If more precise results are desired, additional calibration is required. The linear approximation constant used to determine relative humidity, so it can be varied if it operates in different environments.
