The DX-BT05 is a serial-to-Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy (BLE) module built around the Texas Instruments CC2541 System-on-Chip. It provides a transparent wireless data bridge between a microcontroller's UART port and Bluetooth-enabled devices such as Android smartphones, iPhones, tablets, and laptops. The module integrates a power-optimized 8051 MCU, in-system programmable flash memory, 8KB RAM, and a 2.4GHz RF transceiver, delivering robust BLE connectivity with low power consumption for embedded and IoT applications. Its default device name appears in the Bluetooth scan list immediately after power-up, and communication is configured through standard AT commands sent over the serial line.
The DX-BT05 BLE 4.0 module supports a 3.3V to 5V DC input supply, making it directly compatible with both 3.3V and 5V microcontroller platforms without external level shifting. The UART interface operates at a default baud rate of 9600bps (configurable via AT commands), and the module supports the Serial Port Profile (SPP) for transparent data transmission. The RF section operates in the license-free 2.400GHz to 2.480GHz ISM band using GFSK modulation, with a Class 2 output power of less than 0dBm. The compact board measures 27mm × 13mm × 2mm, and the module includes an onboard antenna and a status LED for connection indication.
This BLE module is widely used in wireless data transmission projects, remote control and monitoring systems, smart building automation, wireless automotive diagnostic devices, wireless mice and keyboards, alarm and security systems, and general information transfer between embedded systems and mobile devices. Its compatibility with both Android and iOS platforms makes it a practical choice for cross-platform BLE development. The module also supports master-slave mode switching and sleep commands for low-power operation, with standby current in the 90µA to 400µA range and active current around 8.5mA.
