Ai-Thinker AB-02 Bluetooth 5.0 BLE Mesh Module with AB1611 Chip

The AB-02 is a general-purpose Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) module from Ai-Thinker, designed for Internet of Things (IoT) devices and smart home appliances such as smart lights, smart sockets, and smart air conditioners. The module is built around the AB1611 chip from Airoha (Loda), a highly integrated solution that combines a 32-bit Andes-architecture MCU with a 2.4GHz Bluetooth 5.0 radio. The processor’s clock frequency is adjustable from 16MHz to 72MHz, and the module includes 512KB of programmable flash memory and 64KB of SRAM, providing sufficient resources for mesh networking firmware and application logic. A 16-bit, 16kHz ADC is available for audio data acquisition, making the module suitable for voice-enabled smart home products.

The Ai-Thinker AB-02 Bluetooth module complies with the Bluetooth 5.0 specification and the SIG Mesh protocol, allowing it to form a mesh network directly through a smartphone or to connect to compatible smart speakers. The maximum transmit power is 10dBm (with a specified range of 10±2dBm), and the receive sensitivity is -94dBm, supporting reliable wireless links in typical indoor environments. The module is supplied in an SMD-34 package with dimensions of 27.0mm × 13.0mm × 2.7mm (with a tolerance of ±0.2mm) and provides 24 general-purpose I/O pins for peripheral integration. Power is supplied over a recommended range of 2.7V to 3.6V, with a typical operating voltage of 3.3V.

Typical applications for the AB-02 include smart lighting, smart plugs, smart air conditioners, and other connected home devices that benefit from low-power BLE mesh connectivity. The module supports standard Ai-Thinker mesh firmware variants for cold/warm light control, RGB light control, and Tmall Genie-compatible AliMesh operation. Because the module’s firmware is not intended for customer secondary development, it is best suited to product designs that can use the vendor’s standard firmware or engage Ai-Thinker for custom development.
