AS5600 12-bit Encoder Module

The AS5600 is an easy-to-program magnetic rotary position sensor offering high-resolution 12-bit analog or PWM output, designed for contactless potentiometer applications. This robust, contactless system measures the absolute angle of a diametrically magnetized on-axis magnet while eliminating interference from external stray magnetic fields. Featuring an industry-standard I²C interface, it allows simple programming of non-volatile parameters without a dedicated programmer, with a default output range of 0 to 360 degrees that can be customized by setting a zero angle (start position) and maximum angle (stop position). A smart low-power mode automatically reduces consumption, while the DIR input pin selects output polarity based on rotation direction—connecting DIR to ground increases the output value with clockwise rotation, and connecting it to VDD increases it with counterclockwise rotation. The module supports three signal output methods (I²C bus, PWM, or analog), operates at 3.3V by default (5V available by disconnecting the R6 resistor), uses the I²C interface by default, and switches to PWM/analog output by grounding the PGO pin. Clockwise rotation increases the value by default, or users can solder the R4 resistor to the R3 pad for counterclockwise increase.
