Anti-Static Wrist Strap – ESD Grounding Band with 1.8m Coiled Cord, 1MΩ Resistor

The Anti-Static Wristband is a personnel grounding device designed to safely dissipate static electricity from the human body during work with sensitive electronic components. The human body can accumulate electrostatic charge through movement, friction, and clothing, and a discharge as small as 25 volts can damage or destroy integrated circuits, sensors, and RF modules without the operator feeling anything. This wrist strap provides a controlled path to ground, preventing sudden electrostatic discharge (ESD) events that would otherwise occur when touching sensitive devices.

The anti-static wrist strap itself is made of T.P.R. (thermoplastic rubber) with conductive fibers woven into the material, giving it a surface resistance in the 1kΩ to 100kΩ range. This relatively low resistance ensures effective grounding of the wearer’s skin. The grounding cord contains a 1MΩ (±10%) current-limiting resistor, which is a critical safety feature: if the wearer accidentally contacts a live circuit, the resistor limits current to a safe level, reducing the risk of electric shock. The cord is 1.8 meters long, providing ample reach for seated work at a bench, and its coiled design allows it to extend and retract without tangling.

The strap is adjustable to fit different wrist sizes and is intended for use in electronics repair, PCB assembly, laboratory work, and any environment where ESD-sensitive components are handled. It is a passive safety accessory—it does not require power, calibration, or maintenance beyond periodic testing of the resistor and cord continuity. For reliable protection, the wrist strap should be worn snugly against bare skin, and the grounding cord should be connected to a verified earth ground point.
