This adapter is developed by Elm Electronics company by name of ELM327 with supporting ODB2 interpreter protocol  (including VPW, PWM, ISO, KWP 2000, CAN protocol) released after 1996. The operator can connect a female USB port of any PCs to the female RS232 connector of the ECU (in or under car dashboard) to see the fault code and read the presented description about the meaning of the fault code or its causes, delete it to prevent warning indicators on the car dashboard. The ODB2 software can be run on the DOS and Windows operating system.
