Description:
GY-56 Infrared Ranging Module is a low cost digital infrared range sensor which operates in 3-5V. Its low power consumption and small size make easy installation.
The working principle of this sensor is that the infrared LED emits light and is irradiated, then the returned light is received by the MCU and the MCU calculates the difference in time, afterward gets the measurement and directly outputs the distance value.
This module has two ways to read data, namely Serial UART (TTL level) and IIC (Two lines) mode. The baud rate of the serial port is 9600bps and 115200bps which is configurable. It also provides Arduino and STM32 microcontroller communication program. You can set different internal IIC addresses under the IIC mode. So multiple sensors can be connected on the same bus.

Note: The I/O of the module is a TTL level that can be connected directly to the serial port of the MCU. It can be directly connected to the chip such as PL2303, CH340 and FT232. But not the computer nine-pin serial port.
