the gy-amg8833 thermal imager sensor is an 8x8 infrared thermal sensor. when connected to your microcontroller (or raspberry pi), it returns a set of 64 individual infrared temperature readings via i2c. this module only supports i2c and has an adjustable interrupt pin that can be triggered by any pixel above or below a threshold you set. the temperature measurement range of the amg8833 sensor is between 0 to 80 degrees celsius (32 degrees fahrenheit to 176 degrees fahrenheit) with an accuracy of ±2.5 degrees celsius (±4.5 degrees fahrenheit). this sensor can also detect humans from a distance of 7 meters (23 feet). the maximum frame rate is 10 hz, which is ideal for creating a body detector or mini thermal imager. this sensor can be used with arduino or compatible devices (sensors communicate via i2c) or raspberry pi using python. in pi, with the help of the scipy python library for image processing, you can import an 8x8 grid and achieve very good results.
