Ferrite transformer are a type of magnetic core commonly used in electronic devices. They are made from a ceramic compound consisting of iron oxide (Fe2O3) combined with other metal oxides such as manganese, nickel and zinc. Ferrite cores are known for their excellent magnetic properties including high magnetic permeability, low electrical conductivity and good resistance to high frequencies. These properties make ferrite cores suitable for applications such as electromagnetic interference (EMI) reduction, noise filtering and magnetic coupling. They are commonly used in transformers, high frequency inductors (switching frequency), chokes and other electronic components to control and shape magnetic fields. Ferrite cores come in a variety of shapes and sizes including rings, rods, beads and E-cores, allowing for flexibility in design and assembly. They are also lightweight, cost-effective and can operate over a wide range of temperatures. In general, ferrite cores play an important role in improving the efficiency, reliability, and performance of electronic devices and circuits.
Low electrical conductivity results in very low eddy current losses in these cores; therefore, ferrites can be used at high frequencies up to several megahertz.
