As the name of the optocoupler suggests, its duty is to couple or connect two points through light, with no physical connection between the receiver and the transmitter. The main advantage of optocouplers is their high electrical isolation between input and output terminals, allowing us to control large AC voltages, currents, and powers with relatively small digital signals. The PC123 Optocoupler includes an infrared phototransistor that connects or disconnects two points in a circuit through infrared radiation, and because it uses light to perform its operations, it is known as a photocoupler. This integrated circuit, recognized as the PC123 phototransistor, has 4 pins in a DIP shape and can isolate up to 5000 volts between the input and output.
