ESP32-WROOM-32E and ESP32-WROOM-32UE are two high-performance, generic WiFi+BT+BLE MCU modules aimed at a wide range of applications, from low-power sensor networks to the most demanding tasks such as voice coding, Music streaming and MP3 decoding. ESP32-WROOM-32E comes with a PCB antenna, ESP32-WROOM-32UE with an IPEX antenna. Both have a 4MB external SPI flash. The heart of the module is the ESP32-D0WD-V3 chip*. The embedded chip is designed to be scalable and adaptable. There are two CPU cores that can be individually controlled, and the CPU clock frequency is adjustable from 80MHz to 240MHz. The chip also features a low-power co-processor that can be used in place of the CPU to save power and perform tasks that don't require much processing power, such as monitoring peripheral devices. ESP32 integrates a variety of peripherals such as capacitive touch sensors, Hall sensors, SD card interface, Ethernet, high-speed SPI, UART, I²S and I²C. The integration of Bluetooth®, Bluetooth LE and Wi-Fi ensures that a wide range of applications can be targeted and the module is versatile: the use of Wi-Fi enables a large physical range and a direct connection to the Internet via one Wi-Fi router, while the use of Bluetooth allows convenient connection to the phone or emitting low energy beacons to recognize the user. The ESP32 chip's quiescent current is less than 5µA, making it suitable for battery-powered and portable electronics applications. The module supports a data rate of up to 150 Mbps and 20 dBm output power at the antenna to ensure the greatest possible physical range. This means the module offers industry-leading specifications and the best performance for electronic integration, range, power consumption and connectivity. The operating system chosen for ESP32 is freeRTOS with LwIP; TLS 1.2 with hardware acceleration is also built in. Secure (encrypted) over-the-air (OTA) upgrade is also supported, allowing users to upgrade their products even after release with minimal effort and cost.
