The ER11-A Collet, also known as a chuck collet, is a conical piece that is placed on the spindle head. a uniform peripheral force is applied to the blade or piece so that the collet fully closes. the collet is the most precise tool for gripping small diameter pieces on the lathe machine. the collet consists of a collet bushing, a pull rod, and a handwheel or handle for moving the pull rod. the spring collet holder and the collet itself are installed on the collet. the bushing is installed at the right end of the lathe machine spindle. the pull rod passes through the spindle of the machine and is screwed into the spring collet holder. when the pull rod is turned by the handwheel, it pulls the collet into the conical adapter and holds it firmly on the piece. spring collet holders come in various shapes to grip square and hexagonal pieces as well as circular pieces effectively. in general, collets are made of spring steel, and each type and model is used for a specific size. the er11 with a diameter of 6 mm and a height of 40 mm is used for a 16 mm shaft.
