8-Channel PPM Encoder Module Version 2.0

Some flight controllers such as the Pixhawk autopilot only support PPM (pulse position modulation) compatible receivers. If you have a PWM (pulse width modulated) receiver, you will need a PPM encoder such as this one for it to work with a PPM only FC. This PPM encoder will encode regular PWM inputs into a single PPM output. This allows you to combine up to 8 channels from a regular RC receiver to a single wire PPM input for your flight controller e.g. Pixhawk or APM.
A PPM Encoder will allow you to use any older style RC receiver with only PWM outputs for each channel.

The PPM Encoder v2.0 plugs into the PWM servo output ports of any R/C receiver and encodes them into a PPM pulse suitable for many autopilots (e.g. PX4FMU).
The nice thing about PPM is that it will enable you to reduce all channels to a single wire, excluding ground and power lines.

The PPM Encoder does require quite a bit of additional wiring to the receiver.

It uses quite a bit of power making it likely you will need to plug in your battery while doing radio setup with USB cable in Mission Planner.

If you are using this PPM Encoder it is important to know that when you are calibrating your transmitter you may need to hook up your flight battery to the autopilot because the USB port alone can’t supply enough power.
