3D Touch V2.0 Auto Bed Leveling Sensor – BLTouch Compatible, 5V

The 3D-Touch-V2.0 is a retractable auto bed leveling sensor for FDM 3D printers that physically probes the build surface to measure its tilt and compensate for irregularities during printing. Unlike inductive or capacitive proximity sensors, the 3D Touch uses a solenoid-driven push-pin combined with a Hall-effect sensor, allowing it to work with virtually any bed material—glass, wood, metal, PEI, and composite surfaces—without recalibration for different substrates.

The sensor is built around an Atmel ATtiny13A microcontroller, a small solenoid actuator, and a spring-loaded push-pin housed in a translucent PC shell. Its repeatability standard deviation is approximately 0.005mm, which is sufficient for reliable first-layer adhesion and consistent print quality on desktop machines. The device operates from a 5V supply, draws about 15mA in idle state, and briefly peaks at up to 300mA while the pin is moving (approximately 100ms per actuation). Because the solenoid is only energised during pin movement, standby power consumption and Joule heating are minimized.

The 3D Touch V2.0 is designed as a drop-in replacement for a standard RC servo signal on many 3D printer control boards. It provides a 3-pin control interface (GND, +5V, signal) and a separate 2-pin Z-min probe output (GND, signal). The kit includes both a short 200mm cable and a long 1000mm cable, along with XH2.54 connectors, so it can be routed neatly on different printer frames. Firmware support is available in Marlin, Repetier, and Smoothieware through standard M280/M340 commands, and the sensor includes self-test and alarm functions that blink the onboard LED if a fault is detected. The 3D Touch is not plug-and-play on all boards—firmware modification and, on some controllers, connector soldering are required—and it is not compatible with certain older boards such as the Melzi V2.0/V3.0 and some MKS models.
