Description:
This is a MAX31855K thermocouple that consists of two dissimilar electrical conductors forming electrical junctions at differing temperatures. A thermocouple produces a temperature-dependent voltage as a result of the thermoelectric effect and this voltage can be interpreted to measure temperature.
Thermocouples are very sensitive, requiring a good amplifier with a cold-compensation reference that measures a wider temperature measurement range. It can be easily interfaced with any microcontroller, even one without an analog input. This product comes with a 2 pin terminal block (for connecting to the thermocouple) and a pin header (to plug into any breadboard). This thermocouple breakout board has the chip itself, a 3.3V regulator with 10uF bypass capacitors and level shifting circuitry.
