This Collision-Sensor module is a mechanical crash and obstacle-contact detector built around a lever-actuated microswitch. When the lever is pressed by an impact or by reaching the end of travel, the switch closes and the module's digital output drops to a LOW level; when the lever is released, the output returns to HIGH. That simple active-LOW behaviour makes the crash sensor module easy to read on any microcontroller GPIO, and it is the same logic used by the endstop inputs on 3D printer and CNC controller boards. The board accepts a supply between 3V and 12V DC, so it can be powered from a 3.3V logic rail, a 5V rail, or a 12V machine supply without an extra regulator. A status LED lights whenever the switch is triggered, giving immediate visual confirmation of contact during setup and troubleshooting. Three pins—supply, ground, and signal—provide a minimal wiring interface, and the compact 35 × 22 mm PCB includes a mounting hole for fixing the module to a robot bumper, a moving carriage, or a machine frame. Because the sensing element is a mechanical microswitch rather than an optical or magnetic sensor, it is unaffected by ambient light, dust, or nearby motors. Typical installations include 3D printer endstops, CNC limit switches, robotic bumpers, and automation interlocks where a dependable physical contact signal is required.

Microswitch collision sensor Application

  1. Endstop sensing on 3D printer axes to detect the end of travel.
  2. Limit switch for CNC machines and motorised linear stages.
  3. Bumper and obstacle-contact detection on mobile robots.
  4. Collision sensing at the end of robotic arms and moving linkages.
  5. Safety interlocks and physical-contact triggers in automation equipment.
  6. Simple digital input experiments and microcontroller teaching projects.
