The 18650-CDHM is a compact battery shield board that turns a single 18650 lithium-ion cell into a portable power source for ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi, Arduino, and other microcontroller development boards. It combines a Micro USB charging circuit, a boost converter for 5V output, and a regulated 3V rail on a single PCB, so a project can run from battery power and be recharged without an external charger module.
The 18650 battery shield V3 board accepts a DC input of 5V to 8V through its Micro USB port, with a charging current of approximately 0.5A (the source also lists a 600–800mA range for the USB charging path). The 18650 cell operates between 3.2V and 4.2V. On the output side, the shield provides three 5V headers rated for up to 2A total and three 3V headers rated for up to 1A, alongside a Type-A USB port for powering USB devices. A single slide switch enables or disables the USB output, and a red/green LED indicates charging status (red while charging, green when full). Built-in protection covers overcurrent, over-discharge, and voltage fluctuation, helping to prevent damage to both the cell and the connected board. The module measures 30×105mm and is supplied without an 18650 battery. Because the 5V and 3V outputs are exposed on pin headers, users should observe the polarity markings on the PCB; the source specifically warns that reverse polarity can destroy the charging chip.
