An inertial measurement unit (IMU) is an electronic device that measures and reports a body's specific force, angular rate, and sometimes the orientation of the body, using a combination of accelerometers, gyroscopes, and sometimes magnetometers. 10 DOF IMU Sensor is a motion monitor, as well as detecting/measuring the position, height, and temperature. It would be helpful for making your own copter or balancing robot, provides great man-machine interaction.
This module is based on LSM6DS33, LIS3MDL, and LPS25H chip that has a three-axis acceleration plus three-axis gyroscope plus three-axis magnetometer plus atmospheric pressure altitude sensor.
The LSM6DS33 is a system-in-package featuring a 3D digital accelerometer and a 3D digital gyroscope performing at 1.25 mA (up to 1.6 kHz ODR) in high-performance mode and enabling always-on low-power features for an optimal motion experience for the consumer.
The LIS3MDL is an ultra-low-power high-performance three-axis magnetic sensor.
This chip is available in a small thin plastic land grid array package (LGA) and is guaranteed to operate over an extended temperature range of -40 °C to +85 °C.
The LPS25H is an ultra-compact absolute piezoresistive pressure sensor. It includes a monolithic sensing element and an IC interface able to take the information from the sensing element and to provide a digital signal to the external world.
This module has an Internal Digital Motion Processing(DMP) engine, offloads complicate fusion calculation, sensor synchronization, gesture recognition, etc.
In comparing with MPU6050, the MPU9255 is lower power consumption and more suitable for wearable devices. BMP180 is a barometric pressure sensor, which is an embedded temperature sensor for temperature compensation.
You can get the 10 DOF data through the I2C interface.
10-DOF IMU sensor has many applications such as a quadcopter, balancing robots, indoor inertial navigation, barometric altimeter, and Industry measurement.
